- Materials Needed:
- Piece of fabric for the top of the mug rug: At least 8” by 6”.
- Two pieces of fabric for the bottom of the mug rug. Around 6”x6” or to fit the back. (See video.)
- Piece of batting. At least 8” by 6”.
- Piece of lightweight stabilizer. Enough to fill the hoop you are using.
- Iron-On Stabilizer: Cut one for the back of the top piece of fabric. I use Heat N Bond Light.
- Scissors or rotary cutter.
- Small pair of embroidery or duck-bill scissors.
- Tape (scotch tape or painter’s tape.)
- Bobbin (I used white throughout this design, but this is your choice. It really won’t be showing.)
- Thread: These colors are approximate. Try to use what you have on hand.
- Green: A dark green or leaf-green
- Light Yellow: for part of the sunflower petals
- Medium Yellow: for part of the sunflower petals
- Dark Yellow or Bronze: for the center of the sunflower.
- Black
- A background color for your quilting.
- A color for your lettering.
- Iron and Ironing board or Ironing pad.
